Present Continuous Tense in Hindi

जब किसी कार्य या घटना का वर्तमान समय में जारी होने का बोध हो, तो present Continuous tense या present Imperfect tense या present Progressive tense का प्रयोग किया जाता है| Example –

  1. He is reading. – वह पढ़ रहा है|
  2. You are playing. – तुम खेल रहे हो|
  3. They are doing this work. – वे लोग इस काम को कर रहे है|
  4. We are going to market. – हमलोग बाजार जा रहे है|

Uses of Present Continuous Tense

  • जब कोई कार्य वर्तमान समय में जारी हो इसका बोध करने के लिए| Example –
    1. He is playing. – वह खेल रहा है|
    2. They are running. – वे लोग दौड़ रहे है|
    3. You are reading. – तुम पढ़ रहे हो|
    4. Your brother is going to school. – तुम्हारा भाई स्कूल जा रहा है|
  • यदि किसी sentence में now / these days / at present / at this moment / currently etc. जैसे words का प्रयोग समय का बोध कराने के लिए किया गया हो, तब ऐसे sentence में present continuous tense का प्रयोग किया जाता है| Example –
    1. He is reading now. – Correct
    2. He reads now. – Incorrect
    3. We are not taking milk these days. – Correct
    4. We do not take milk these days. – Incorrect
    5. My brother is learning English these days. – Correct
    6. My brother learns English these days. – Incorrect
  • आने वाले निकट समय की निश्चित योजना को बताने के लिए भी present continuous tense का प्रयोग किया जाता है| Example –
    1. We are going to Patna tomorrow morning.
    2. They are coming here tonight.
  • कभी-कभी नाराजगी तथा चिडचिडापन को बतलाने के लिए भी present continuous tense का प्रयोग किया जाता है| Example –
    1. She is always complaining.
  • किसी चीज में होने वाले लगातार विकास या ह्रास को बतलाने के लिए present continuous tense का प्रयोग किया जाता है| Example –
    1. Your handwriting is improving. – आपकी लिखावट में सुधार हो रहा है।
    2. His health is gradually deteriorating. – उनकी तबीयत धीरे-धीरे खराब हो रही है

Note – कुछ verb ऐसे है जिनका प्रयोग सामान्यतः present continuous tense में नहीं किया जाता है-

  2. Hear – सुनना
  3. Recognize – पहचानना
  4. Smell – सूंघना
  5. Taste – चखना
  6. Seem – लगना
  7. Appear – प्रतीत होना
  8. Look – देखना
  9. Love – प्यार करना
  10. Wish – चाहना
  11. Mean – मतलब रखन
  12. Suppose – मान लेना
  13. Consist – मिलकर बनना
  14. Comprise – समावेश करना
  15. Belong – संबद्ध होना
  16. Resemble – सदृश होना
  17. Need – जरूरत होना
  18. Dare – साहस करना
  19. Own – स्वामी होना
  20. Possess – प्राप्त करना
  21. Hate – नफरत करना
  22. Think – सोंचन
  23. Trust – भरोसा करना
  24. Know – जानना
  25. Believe – विश्वास करना
  26. Remember – याद करना
  27. Sound – आवाज करना
  28. Feel – महसूस करना

  1. I am thinking. – Incorrect
  2. you are seeing – Incorrect
  3. It is appearing to be true – Incorrect

  7. You see. – Correct
  8. I think. – Correct
  9. It appears to be true – Correct

Structure of Present continuous Tense in Hindi

Affirmative :

Subject + is / am / are + V4 + Object.

Example Sentences of Present continuous tense in Hindi and English –

  1. Seema is singing a song. – सीमा गाना गा रही है।
  2. He is going to buy a car. – वह एक कार खरीदने जा रहा है।
  3. They are going to do something. – वे लोग कुछ करने जा रहे हैं।
  4. The Prime Minister is returning tomorrow. – प्रधानमंत्री कल लौट रहे हैं।
  5. The boys are making noises. – लड़के शोर मचा रहे हैं।
  6. My mother is cooking food. – मेरी माँ खाना बना रही है।
  7. He is learning music these days. -वह इन दिनों संगीत सीख रहा हैं।
  8. You, he and I are playing cricket. – आप, वह और मैं क्रिकेट खेल रहे हैं।

Negative:

Subject + is / am / are + not + V4 + Object.
