Form Classes और Structure words क्या है? – जैसा की आप जानते है की English में words को 8 भागो में बांटा गया है, जिसे parts of speech कहा जाता है. लेकिन यह वर्गीकरण Traditional English Grammar के अनुसार किया गया है. Modern English Grammar के अनुसार words का वर्गीकरण 2 भागो में किया गया है –

  • Form Classes
  • Structure words

What are Form classes and Structure words

Form classes और Structure words को समझने से पहले आपको Affix, Suffix और Prefix के बारे में समझना होगा.

Affix – वैसे words जिसका कोई अपना अर्थ नहीं होता है, लेकिन किसी word के आगे या पीछे लगकर उस word का meaning में ला देता है. Example – s/es, d/ed, ing, un, less, ness etc.

Affix दो प्रकार के होते है –

  1. Prefix (जो किसी word के पहले लगता है) – pro, sub, fore, mis, up, un, dis, de, pre, re, im, ir, il, en, over, out, etc.
    1. In + direct = Indirect
    2. Tri + angle = Triangle
    3. Dis + like = Dislike
    4. Im + possible = Impossible
  2. Suffix (जो किसी word के अंत में लगता है) – s, es, ness, est, er, ly, ing, en, ful, less, hood, ship, ed, etc.
    1. Friend + ship = Friendship
    2. India + an = Indian
    3. Act + ion = Action
    4. Happy + ness = Happiness
    5. Walk + ing = Walking

Form Classes

वैसे words जो Affix (suffix and prefix) से प्रभावित होकर अपना रूप बदल लेते है, उसे Form Classes कहा जाता है.

Example –

  • Cat – Cats
  • Play – plays, played, playing, playful etc.
  • Fast – Faster, fastest, Unfasten etc.

Form Classes के चार भेद होते है –

  1. Noun
  2. Adjective
  3. Verb
  4. Adverb

Note – Traditional English Grammar के अनुसार कुछ adjective, verb, adverb ऐसे भी होते है जिनपर affix का कोई प्रभाव नहीं पड़ता है. ऐसे words को Modern English Grammar के अनुसार structure words में रखा गया है.

  • Adjective – my, your, some, each, etc.
  • Verb – am, is, are, have etc.
  • Adverb – very, too, etc.

Structure words

ऐसे words जिसपर affix (suffix and prefix) का प्रभाव नहीं पड़ता है, ऐसे words का काम सिर्फ़ sentence के structure को स्पष्ट करना होता है.

Structure words मुख्यतः 10 प्रकार के होते है –

  1. Determiners
  2. Pronouns
  3. Prepositions
  4. Auxiliaries
  5. Intensifiers
  6. Conjunctions
  7. Interjections
  8. Sentence connectors
  9. Subordinators
  10. Question Words
