What is Pronoun?
PRO – For ( समर्थक, हिमायती, के लिए )
NOUN – Name of Universal and nether object.
इसलिए हम कह सकते है जो word Noun का समर्थक या हिमायती हो उसे pronoun कहा जाता है|
The word which comes in stead of a Noun is called Pronoun.
वह शब्द जिसका Noun के बदले प्रयोग किया जाता है, वह pronoun कहलाता है |
Example –
Mohan is a good boy. He read in class eight.
इस sentence में He (Pronoun) का प्रयोग Mohan (Noun) के लिए किया गया है|
Some Important Concept
- किसी भी Sentence, Speech या Paragraph में Pronoun कभी भी Noun के बिना नहीं आ सकता है|
- Noun के बिना Pronoun का कोई अस्तित्व नहीं है |
- Pronoun – limited होते है जबकि Noun के words का कोई limit नहीं है |
Types of Pronoun
There are 10 types of Pronoun –
- Personal Pronoun
- Reflexive Pronoun
- Emphatic Pronoun
- Reciprocal Pronoun
- Demonstrative Pronoun
- Indefinite Pronoun
- Interrogative Pronoun
- Distributive Pronoun
- Relative Pronoun
- Exclamatory Pronoun

1) What is Personal Pronoun
जिस Pronoun का प्रयोग वाक्य में Subject के रूप में, Object के रूप में या दूसरी वस्तुओ से निकटता या सम्बन्ध बताने के लिए किया जाता है, उसे Personal Pronoun कहा जाता है। Example – I, we, me, us etc.
Some Important Concepts
Concept 1 : यदि कोई Pronoun किसी verb के subject के रूप में प्रयोग किया जाये तो उसे Nominative case में रखा जाता है। Example-
- She went to Patna by train. – Correct
- Her went to Patna by train. – Incorrect
Concept 2 – अगर कोई Pronoun किसी verb के Object के रूप में प्रयोग किया जाये तो उसे objective case में रखा जाता है। Example –
- She loves him. – Correct
- She loves he. – Incorrect
Concept 3 – Let अथवा किसी preposition के बाद pronoun को objective case में रखा जाता है। Example–
- Let him do this work. – Correct
- Let he do this work. – Incorrect
Concept 4 – Possessive Pronoun का प्रयोग किसी verb के subject या object के रूप में किया जाता है। Example–
- Ours is a great country. – Correct
- Our is a great country. – Incorrect
- These books are not mine. – Correct
- These books are not my. – Incorrect
- Your house is beautiful. – Correct
- Yours house is beautiful. – Incorrect
- Your is beautiful house. – Incorrect
- Yours is beautiful house. – Correct ( yours = your house )
Concept 5 – जब दो Nominative case pronoun के बीच तुलना हो तो than के बाद Nominative case Pronoun का प्रयोग होता है। Example –
- You are taller than me. – Incorrect
- You are taller than I. – Correct
- She respect you more than me. – Correct
- I love you more than she. – Incorrect

2) What is Reflexive Pronoun
Important Points
- She introduced herself to the minister. – Correct.
- She introduced her to the minister. – Incorrect.
- The enjoyed in the party. – Incorrect.
- The enjoyed themselves in the party. – Correct.
3) What is Emphatic Pronoun
- Anand himself is good, but not his friends.
- Ramesh himself did the word.
- Geeta herself is responsible for this mistake.
- The teachers themselves are late.
- I myself saw her doing this idiot job.
- We ourselves did it for you people.
- You yourself are responsible for it.
- The king himself gave her the medal.
4) What is Reciprocal Pronoun
- You and I help each other. – Correct.
- You and I help one another. –Incorrect.
- All of the students hate one another. –Correct.
- All of the students hate each other. –Incorrect.
- Both of the girls tease each other. –Correct.
- Both of the girls tease one another. –Incorrect.
- The two brothers hate each other. –Correct.
- The five brothers love one another. –Correct.
5) What is Demonstrative Pronoun
- This is a pen. –Correct.
- These are a pen. –Incorrect.
- These are pens. –Correct.
- This is pens. –Incorrect.
- That is a book. –Correct.
- Those are books. –Correct.
- Those are book. –Incorrect.
- That is books. Incorrect.
6) What is Indefinite Pronoun
- All went to London.
- Do good to others.
- A few persons came here.
- Someone has stolen my phone.
- One should do his duty. – Incorrect.
- One should do one’s duty. –Correct.
7) What is Interrogative Pronoun
- Who are you?
- What are you doing?
- What is the matter?
- What is your name?
- Who did this?
- Whose are these clothes?

- Whom have you in mind?
8) What is Distributive Pronoun
- Each of the two boys has done this work.
- Each of the five boys has done the work.
- Either of the two boys has come to me.

Concept 3 – दो से अधिक वस्तुओ और व्यक्तियों में से एक का बोध कराने के लिए anyone का प्रयोग करते है। Example –
- Anyone of the five boys has done this work.
- Anyone of the ten boys has come to me.
- Neither of the two boys has helped me.
- None of the four boys has helped me.
9) What is Relative Pronoun
- Each of the two boys has done this work.
- Each of the five boys has done the work.
- Either of the two boys has come to me.
- Either of the two boys has done this work.
Concept 3 – दो से अधिक वस्तुओ और व्यक्तियों में से एक का बोध कराने के लिए anyone का प्रयोग करते है। Example –
- Anyone of the five boys has done this work.
- Anyone of the ten boys has come to me
- Neither of the two boys has helped me.
- None of the four boys has helped me.
